NaBloPoMo 2016

I didn’t think I could do it this year, friends.  I’m still not sure I can.  (What’s she talking about?)  NaBloPoMo or NanoPoblano, writing every day for the month of November, I just have too much going on.  But wait… I have to try, right?!

For those of you who know me, or know Sidereal Catalyst, you may have noticed my absence as of late.  You may know that I am nearing the end of an accelerated vocational program geared toward becoming a certified medical assistant.  A two-year program jammed into five months of madness, which all comes down to a national exam on December 16th.  It’s crunch time, people!!!  I have not had the brain capacity to write creatively for months and my blog has taken the brunt of this saddened state of affairs.  I’ve tried on a few occasions.  I’ve sat down at my computer with the best intentions to write something poetic or meaningful, but I have been at a loss for the words that used to come much easier to me than they have been recently.

So here’s the deal… I will be posting some things that have been sitting on the back burner.  I hesitate to say that what’s to come won’t be my best work, especially because last year brought about some of the best writing I’ve ever done (in my humble opinion).  However, I oh-so-badly want to participate and this is the only way I can attempt to do so.  I don’t have enough pre-written posts to get me through the whole month of November, so I’m not sure how this will work out in the end.  BUT, I hereby promise to complete the task at hand (hopefully).

For those of you who are new here, well, I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself.  My name is Abbie and I live with Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.  I tend to write quite a bit about living with these diseases as they affect my life in pretty major ways.  In May of this year, I ran a guest series to spread awareness about mental health entitled ‘Fight With Us #DCfC’ that you should definitely check out.  I also started a resource page about depression called Depression: Catalyst for Change (#DCfC), you may want to take a look at that, too.  I mainly write nonfiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry.  I am super excited that you are here reading this right now, taking the time out of your busy day to check out my world – I really appreciate it!!  I hope you’ll stop by throughout the month and see what’s going on!  Feel free to take your shoes off, grab a cup of coffee and make yourself comfortable 🙂 Welcome to my world!!!

  1. I wrote on my blog every day, last January and February, but I have been writing less on my blog lately too. It’s like as soon as I put my brain to the task of learning to play the violin, writing started to take a back burner. I wanted to do NaNoWriMo but I can’t possibly.
Good luck on your December exam and I look forward to what you’ve got in store here this month.

  2. I’m completely blown away by your determination to make this happen, even with all you’ve got going on, and such a lot to think about. I know this means a lot to you and I hugely admire your gumption to decide to do it ANYWAY! I think you’re marvellous, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you share 🙂 ❤

    • My dear, sweet, kind Lizzi… I don’t know what I would do in this world without your love and support!! Deciding to do this has increased my anxiety quite a lot because I don’t know how I will DO it, but hopefully it will end up getting done. I fear it will be a let down for myself and my readers because I don’t have the time I wish I had to devote to it ::sigh:: but it is what it is. Thank you for, well, EVERYTHING! I love you, sister ❤

      • You’re always, always welcome. I’m glad to love and support you in this and in everything ❤ I hope you get to prove to your anxiety that either you're up to the challenge, and it can piss off…or that it doesn't matter as much as you thought it did to NOT keep up with the challenge, and it can piss off 😉

Timing though. OUF! You've set yourself a big ol task, but I guess there's no lower word limit, right? 😉

        • Haha yes! I definitely utilize the ‘no lower word limit’ rule (or lack of a rule) in some of my already scheduled posts!! And anxiety can go right on ahead and piss off, even though it follows me around like a nagging shadow most of the time! I will either complete 30 posts or I won’t, only time will tell… I do tend to be kind of hard on myself, though, so let’s hope I can somehow manage to complete them 😉

  3. This is my first visit to your blog. And this is the first post I read; and definitely not the last!😊
And honestly, I’m impressed by you determination. I’m looking forward to read your creations. Good luck 🌷
