Connecting – TToT #8

Saturday morning has arrived and guess what?  I am thankful  ❤

(1) On Monday, a friend treated me to breakfast at my favorite spot in town!  We had a lovely time chatting and stuffing ourselves with truly incredible food.

(2) After breakfast, my mother-in-law came over and helped me do some major Spring cleaning.  Basically, we threw away 90% of what had been sitting untouched in our garage for the past two years or so.  Still need to rent a truck to get the furniture to the dump, but it made an enormous difference.

(3) Monday evening my husband, his father and I took all four of our dogs for a long walk.  On said walk we came across the most beautiful Bougainvillea plant and I absolutely had to take a photo…

(4) On Tuesday I reconnected with an old friend ❤ We hadn’t been fighting or any nonsense like that, we just hadn’t kept in touch very well.  I take most of the blame for that as I have not reached out to friends and family recently, or even responded much to those who’ve reached out to me.  I take that back, I don’t blame myself, I blame depression.  Either way, it’s been wonderful remembering why we were such good friends to begin with and catching up on each other’s lives in the here and now!Connecting

(5) Also on Tuesday, I received a notification from WordPress…Connecting It may not seem like much, but I am so very happy about it!!!  THANK YOU, GUYS, for being part of that number 🙂

(6) For those of you who’ve read Breaking Silence you know, a close friend hurt my feelings not so long ago.  She also inspired me to do something I believe is important, which is awesome, but it was inspired by my hurt feelings (not so awesome).  Well, loves, on Wednesday she and I had a long, healing talk and moved past it!  I am very grateful for that.

(7) I have always been a creative person.  Love crafty projects, scrapbooking, jewelry-making (making jewelry is actually why I started blogging (that’s a story for another day)), etc…  On Thursday, for the first time in over a year, I was inspired to get creative!  I can’t go into detail, it’s a secret (sneaky 😉 ) project, but I am pleased as punch that I want to be creative again!

(8) Learning new things.  My husband and I enjoy watching nature documentaries (I fly my nerd flag proudly, thank you very much).  They are truly fascinating!!!  I learned something that I feel the need to share with you all.  I am going to go ahead and make the assumption that you’ve heard of The Tree of Life.’  I have liked the idea behind it for some time though there are many ideas behind it depending on which country’s aspect you are looking at it from.  Personally, I have always seen it from the Buddhist perspective*, but that’s neither here nor there, really.  What I learned from the documentary is that, according to Egyptians, the actual tree of life is the Acacia.  They call it such because its roots have to extend 60 feet (18 meters) down to reach water in order to survive in the Sahara Desert!  I thought that was really fascinating!!!

(9)  Living in the tropics.  ConnectingNo really, Vero Beach, is where the tropics begin in Florida!

(10) Another beautiful, wonderful, relaxing day at the beach, as well as another long walk ❤Connecting

*(Addendum) In Buddhism, The Tree of Life is not the Acacia it is the Bodhi.  The documentary, however, was talking about the Acacia and it was that knowledge I found fascinating 🙂

  1. ‘cellent photo of the plant (item 3) btw…4 dogs? yow… I have difficulty keeping Una focused when outside (although she does a very good job riding shogun on our Friday Night walks)
total climate envy… we have ocean here, one needs extra clothing for photos, at least at the present time (44 degrees).

sounds like, on balance, a good week!

  2. Another truly wonderful TToT post.
I am glad you are feeling creative too. It’s the best feeling and those of us who feel it in any abundance are lucky for sure.
I look forward to this surprise, whatever it may be.
Happy for you that you had some lovely friend time and that you resolved some issues. That sort of road block only holds us back and keeps us feeling stuck, but in spite of who did what to whom, it does require both people make some kind of an effort to make things better. Glad you made progress in those areas.
I am a geek for documentaries too and proud of it. I just digested an entire six-episode series on NetFlix about castles of the UK. It was fascinating.
Glad to see you here for another week.

    • You are far too kind, love. I fear this was not my greatest writing, though it was definitely a week full of thankfuls and I suppose that is what matters most! ❤

  3. I hear beach music and the happy tune of your life in your post. It’s wonderful to be able to discuss and mend fences and have a healing talk with someone who hurt you. I’m glad you are doing better and back to posting your thankfuls. A clean garage has to lighten up mood and chi. Have a good week.

  4. If I were you, I’d spend part of every day just standing in that cleaned out garage, reveling in the organization, feeling the stress fall out of me. Nothing relaxes me more than having a huge job completed. 🙂
    Yay for re-energized creativity.
As I sit here in the cold, wondering why Indiana is getting left out of spring, I am a wee bit jealous of your time at the beach.

    • I really don’t mean to gloat about the weather and the beach, honest! My parents live in Iowa and I was raised there so I’m all too familiar with cold weather. I vowed I’d never live where it snows ever again!!!!

  5. Those are wonderful things to be thankful for! That picture of the Bougainvillea – wow!

It’s good to see you happy and drinking in the sunshine on the beach. 🙂 I’m thankful you’re feeling so much better!
